A study group based on Roshi Joan Halifax's new book "Standing on the Edge: Finding Freedom where Courage and Fear Meet."
All are welcome. Free to all, and donations ($10-20) encouraged, but not required, for non-mysore oakland students.
We will gather and settle at 6p, and start our group at 6:15p. We will finish around 8pm. You are welcome to bring light snacks and drink to share.
Our meeting dates, and the chapters we will be working from, are:
July 2: Intro 'View from the Edge' & Ch. 1 'Altruism'
July 16: Ch. 2 'Empathy,' & Ch. 3 'Integrity'
Aug 6: Ch. 4 'Respect' & Ch.5 'Engagement'
Aug. 20: Ch. 6. 'Compassion at the Edge'
We do ask that you try to attend all or most sessions, as we will likely/hopefully build a container for sharing that will be better served by consistency (though nobody will be turned away because you can only come to one or two). We will use various forms of listening circles to support authentic sharing and compassionate listening.
